The Bennett family rejoices when Sam and Hank return home safely just in time to celebrate Christmas Eve. Sam assures Hank he's forgiven him. Kay is frustrated at not being able to enjoy the holiday festivities since she doesn't have a soul. Kay is further distressed when Hecuba warns her she won't be able to enter the church for Midnight Mass. Jessica and Simone try to cheer up a despondent Kay. Charity can't shake the feeling that Kay is in danger.
Tabitha realizes Hecuba has stolen Kay's soul and fears her enemy may use the young girl against her. When Kay shows up on her doorstep, Tabitha freaks out.
After another sexual escapade, Rebecca promises Julian she'll have a big surprise for him after Christmas. She hints she may have a way to get him out of his marriage to Ivy.
Eve is troubled when she spots Chad and Whitney kissing and wonders if she made the right decision in letting the two grow closer.
Theresa worries when she sees how close Ethan and Gwen appear. Ethan tells Gwen and Theresa he will finally announce his decision. He's going to propose to one of them at Midnight Mass. Everyone heads for the church.

Hecuba threatens to destroy Tabitha and Timmy once she takes care of Charity. Tabitha worries Hecuba will succeed in getting rid of Charity and will thereby win favor with the friends in the basement. She and Timmy head over to the Bennetts to see what Hecuba has planned. At the Bennetts, Charity continues to sense Kay is in danger. Hecuba gives Kay another assignment to further her plan to destroy Charity.
At Midnight Mass, Ethan proposes to Theresa. An exuberant Theresa happily accepts, while Rebecca and Gwen send murderous looks her way. The next morning, Theresa celebrates with Pilar and Whitney. Pilar is hesitantly happy for her daughter, but warns Theresa about the obstacles ahead. Meanwhile, Gwen tearfully gives Ethan back her engagement ring. Gwen is ready to give Ethan up, but Rebecca swears she'll never let Ethan and Theresa marry.

Just as Kay is about to cut Charity's nails, Charity lets out a terrifying scream. Charity is horrified to see that Kay's face is distorted and demonic-looking. A spying Tabitha and Timmy are also taken aback by Kay's appearance. Tabitha explains to Timmy that Kay's face is a result of not having a soul. Kay looks at her reflection in a mirror and flees to her bedroom. Hecuba assures Kay Charity can only see her distorted face when her powers are at their strongest. Hecuba sends Kay back downstairs to get the nail clippings from Charity so she can continue her plot to destroy the young girl.
Frustrated by Ethan's decision to marry Theresa, Julian comments that if he didn't know better, he'd swear Ethan is not his son. Rebecca notices Ivy's startled reaction. Rebecca finally deduces what Ivy's secret is: Ethan is Sam's son! Her theory is further validated as Ivy continually refers to Ethan as her son while she fights with Julian. She vows to find proof of Ivy's secret and use it to her advantage. Rebecca hints to Gwen she may still have a chance with Ethan. The women are stunned when Julian threatens Ivy's life.
Ethan and Theresa celebrate their engagement with Pilar and Whitney. Ethan proposes again and this time slips a ring onto Theresa's finger. Ethan and Theresa prepare to tell Luis of their engagement. Pilar warns the happy couple that Luis may not give his blessing.

Gwen is blown away when Rebecca shares her suspicion that Ethan is really Sam Bennett's son. Gwen is skeptical, but Rebecca fills her daughter in on all the clues she's picked up. Rebecca admits she just needs to find actual proof. A scheming Rebecca tells Gwen she can have Ethan and the Crane fortune if she's able to pull off her plan. Gwen is stunned when Rebecca declares she's going to be the next Mrs. Julian Crane.
Alistair berates Julian for not preventing Ethan from choosing Theresa. Ivy is horrified when Alistair demands they break up Ethan and Theresa. Ivy insists Ethan will marry for love. She makes a shocking deal with Alistair and Julian to protect her secret and her son's happiness.
Theresa is crushed when Luis refuses to give his blessing to her engagement to Ethan. Luis is positive the Cranes will destroy Theresa if she marries into Ethan's family. After seeing Luis' reaction, Ethan worries he will tear Theresa's family apart by marrying her. Thinking all her problems will be solved if she reveals Ethan is not a Crane, Theresa tells Ethan she wants to fill him in on his "real family."
